On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Plaza Event Center in Zagreb was held the closing ceremony of the student competition “Mozgalo” organized by eSTUDENT association. Nino Požar and Karla Pavlović, students of the University of Rijeka, mentored by Assit. Prof. Duško Čakara, D. Sc., head of the Laboratory for Colloids, Poly-electrolytes and Interfaces of the NANORI Centre, won the first prize at the “Mozgalo” competition!
“Mozgalo” is a competition in deep analysis of large amounts of data aimed at encouraging students to analytical thinking, prediction and autonomous development of creative solutions to real problems based on computer science, statistics, econometrics and mathematics. Participants also develop communication and business skills, teamwork and connect with many companies, primarily from the IT and banking sectors. This year’s assignment for the students was jointly formulated by Adacta and Raiffeisen Bank Croatia. Based on historical and external data, the students tried to anticipate the repayment of loans by using scientific data analysis techniques.
