Presentation held at the elementary school Ivan Goran Kovačić in Vrbovsko

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019 a presentation entitled “Technological solutions – basis of society’s progress”, hich promoted the “European Researchers’ Night” was held at the elementary school Ivan Goran Kovačić in Vrbovsko. The scientists from the Center for micro-and nanosciences and technologies and from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rijeka, Prof. Saša Zelenika and Assist. Prof. Ervin Kamenar, presented and explained their work in the field of micro-and nanotechnologies, on the development of high-precision mechatronic devices, on the development of devices aimed at energy harvesting, on developing rehabilitation devices for medicine, as well as in many other of their activities. The students had the opportunity to see and try to work with some of the technological solutions that were presented to them, and some of them that answered questions about the presentation won European Researchers’ Night t-shirts.

NANORI activities presented via presentation entitled “Nanotribological Studies and advanced control of mehatronics devices based on state-of-the-art meta-modelling”

Prof. Saša Zelenika and the doctoral student Marko Perčić presented during a joint meeting of the Universities of Rijeka and of Triste, Italy, held on May 10, 2019, the activities of the NANORI and RITEH research team via a presentation entitled “Nanotribological Studies and advanced control of mehatronics devices based on state-of-the-art meta-modelling”. The occasion was used to present the overall work and structure of the NANORI Center. Attractive scientific research of the world’s state-of-the-art topics were presented, covering areas of artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, astrophysics, computational fluid dynamics, as well as hydroacoustics and molecular dynamics, with common interest in the use of supercomputing . Concrete ways of co-operation in the EU funds applications were also presented and discussed.

Prof. Saša Zelenika Ph. D. and Assist. Prof. Ervin Kamenar Ph. D. held lectures within Multidisciplinary Day Safe Children in Čavle Elementary School

Prof. Saša Zelenika Ph. D. and Assist. Prof. Ervin Kamenar Ph. D. on April 16, 2019, held two lectures to students of the seventh and eighth grades of Čavle Elementary School in order to develop positive attitudes towards science and technology as the basis of the society’s progress and within the Multidisciplinary Day Safe Children. One of the bearer of the event is the University of Rijeka – Center for Micro- and Nanosciences and Technologies and Faculty of Engineering. Presentation of the project Technological solutions – basis of the society’s progress and a lecture on how scientists trying to solve some of the world’s problems (global warming, poverty) by working in laboratories and achieving technological solutions using micro and nano technology were held in front of a total of 152 students. The presentation also promoted the Researcher’s Night, an event dedicated to the popularization of science and learning through entertainment and is held every year in September.
